Make something which is Ugly, (you will see how difficult that is!)
it is based on the following thought.
«What fascinates about beauty is that it borders so closely to what is perceived as Ugly and the exciting contradiction is that if one wants to find new forms of beauty, one must actually tap into the source of ugliness.»
Furthermore, when one starts doing something Ugly, something wrong let’s say you lose your fear of failure as one starts from a «failed» position.
In addition, participants will learn the surface decoration technique, Niello, which they can use the workshop and in future jewelry projects

ENAMEL ON JEWELRY Plique-à-jour (en francés: «permitiendo que entre la luz») es una técnica de esmaltado vítreo en la cual el esmalte es aplicado en celdas, de manera similar al cloisonné, pero sin ningún material de respaldo en el producto terminado, de forma tal que la luz puede pasar a través del material transparente o translúcido. De hecho es una versión en miniatura de los vitrales.

This workshop will explore the use of electroforming and electorplating as a jewelry forming method for enameling. Students will become familiar with plating methods as well as forms suitable for enameling. Alternative materials will also be discussed including organic materials and how to use them.
